This policy underscores Nigeria's commitment to creating a safe educational environment, consistent with global standards as outlined in international agreements such as the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Specifically, the policy aims to address the root causes of bullying while providing structured mechanisms for prevention, intervention, and rehabilitation to guarantee all learners' well-being. In this regard, the vision of this policy is to create a safe, friendly and harmonious learning environment where every learner and staff is respected and valued. This policy applies to all individuals within the school or learning environment, including learners, administrators, teaching and nonteaching staff. It is applicable to all types of educational institutions and learning centers across Nigeria including: a) Public and Private Schools (Non-State Schools); and b) Non-formal learning centres. The policy also recognizes the crucial roles of parents, guardians, and community members play in the education of the Nigerian child.
