The Review and Assessment of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) in Education Systems (RAMES) is a diagnostic tool designed to help education systems evaluate their readiness to support students' and educators' psychosocial well-being both in, and through education. Grounded in international frameworks developed by UNESCO, WHO, UNICEF, and leading research institutes, RAMES enables ministries of education and key stakeholders to collectively review and assess existing policies and programmes to identify strengths and gaps, aimed at system-wide MHPSS integration.

RAMES assesses MHPSS through four key components that are essential for a comprehensive and effective approach. Regulate, focuses on laws, policies, education sector plans, governance mechanisms, and data systems that guide MHPSS implementation. Prevent, examines education-based strategies that promote mental well-being and reduce risks for learners and educators. Respond, highlights the need for capacity-building, referral pathways, and school-based support to address both existing and emerging MHPSS needs. Lastly, Promote, emphasizes advocacy, community engagement, and caregiver involvement to ensure a holistic approach to mental health in education.
